Gapent-Circles
The battle system utilizes a system of "Gapent-Circles..
All Gapent-Circles appear directly on the screen during battles, making it much easier for the player—there's no need to navigate menus to select abilities.
Each character has their own Gapent-Circles. When the turn passes from one character to another, the Gapent-Circles displayed on the screen are automatically updated.
There are two visible Gapent-Circle slots on the screen: one on the right and one on the left. Each slot supports up to four Gapent-Circles.
The slots are organized into two categories: Order 1 and Order 2. This means that, for each character, there will be 8 Gapent-Circles in Order 1 and 8 in Order 2, totaling 16 per character.
Targeting
When you select an attacking Gapent-Circle, a target appears over the enemies. Similarly, when choosing a HP recovery Gapent-Circle, the target appears over the allied characters.
This target indicates who will be the recipient of the action, whether it's an enemy to be attacked or an ally to be healed.
R-Points and S-Points
Normal Gapent-Circles use R-Points. Support Gapent-Circles consume S-Points.
Each character has an initial Gapent-Circle that doesn't use either R-Points or S-Points. This is the only free Gapent-Circle available from the start of the battle.
Normal and Locked
The sword Gapent-Circle in the image is a normal use.
The bomb Gapent-Circle in the image is locked for use. This means that the R-Points bar is below what's needed to activate the bomb Gapent-Circle.
-
The protection Gapent-Circle is also locked for use, indicating that you'll only be able to use it again in the next battle.
Turn Marker
The turn marker indicates whose turn it is to attack. The letters represent: "T" (Thays), "A" (Enemy A), "B" (Enemy B), "C" (Enemy C), and "D" (Dunar).
